DENNIS DuVAL

Dennis DuVal is the President of Hofmann Sausage Company, one of Central New York’s oldest and most recognizable brands.  With more than 30 years of executive management experience in both the public and private sector, Dennis is equally recognized for his ongoing role as a community leader and public service advocate. A graduate of Syracuse University, Dennis was recognized for outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments including: Academic All American, a Two-time Basketball All American, a member of  the Syracuse Hall of Fame and a former NBA Player with the Washington Bullets and the Atlanta Hawks.

Dennis began his 26-year public service career with the Syracuse Police Department in 1978.  He was Syracuse’s first African American Police Chief,  and won many awards and designations throughout his tenure, including two Syracuse Police Department Medals of Valor and a Governor’s Certificate of Valor.

Upon retirement from public service and with nearly three decades of direct management experience, Dennis transitioned to the private sector as CEO/President and Founder of DevMar Associates, Inc., a successful government contracts compliance firm specializing in criminal justice strategies, international police programs, and Department of State contracting.

Dennis has served as a member and advisor on a number of diverse boards and committees including Syracuse University Whitman School of Management, DynCorp International CIVPOL Program, Vantos, Inc., Boys and Girls Club of Syracuse, Onondaga County NAACP, Vera House, Urban Young Life, Onondaga County DA Advisory Board, and Trust Solutions.  In addition, he actively participates in community outreach programs, youth mentorship campaigns and neighborhood development initiatives.
